The Kolpak ruling has been responsible for allowing the South African batsmen (who got 222* on his test match debut) was dropped by South Africa for the World Cup and was then approached by Geoffrey Boycott to play for Yorkshire. However, he has signed for 3 years as a non-overseas player which means that he can’t play for his country during this period.
HA! I bet is doing cartwheels! He has secured the future of Yorkshire’s batting crisis as well as ruling Rudolph out of Spring Bok selection for the next 3 years.
Well done Geoffrey! However, the question remains, will this Kolpak ruling be tightened up in order to rule out the possibility of abuse in the future? The domestic game is still setup to bring through English talent and that should remain the focus.
