A feat that has only been achieved by few legendry England Batsman, such as Graham Gooch (128), Geoffrey Boycott (151) and Jack Hobbs (199).

Tip of the Week

This week’s TOTW comes from batting legend:

Graeme HickIn one day cricket, the striker should always call the run, as he only he, knows how hard the ball has been struck and at what angle. Even if the ball goes behind square and the striker has to turn to turn to see where it has gone, it is still safest for him to make the call.

Thanks for that, I’ve got to concentrate on hitting the ball now! Any ideas?!

Matthew Prior Matthew Prior has taken his chance at Lords with 126*. He also kept wicket very well on a notoriously hard ground to keep wicket on.
Essex County Cricket Club Essex, chasing down 278 with 4 and a half overs to go, and 9 wickets in hand, thanks to a superb opening pairing of Mark Pettini (103* from 103 balls) and Varun Chopra (102 from 127 balls).
Owais Shah Owais Shah has failed to take the initiative in his second ever test match for England. This is a real shame as his average in the county game for Middlesex has been top notch (95 after 6 innings).
Tom New Tom New has got himself another duck this season while opening the batting for Leicestershire. That’s his 3rd duck in his last 5 innings for the foxes. Still, he’s only 22 so has bags of time to perfect the art of batting.
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club Gloucestershire were bowled out for a measly 85 after winning the toss and deciding to bat first! Woops!

Jacques RudolphThe Kolpak ruling has been responsible for allowing the South African batsmen (who got 222* on his test match debut) was dropped by South Africa for the World Cup and was then approached by Geoffrey Boycott to play for Yorkshire. However, he has signed for 3 years as a non-overseas player which means that he can’t play for his country during this period.

HA! I bet is doing cartwheels! He has secured the future of Yorkshire’s batting crisis as well as ruling Rudolph out of Spring Bok selection for the next 3 years.

Well done Geoffrey! However, the question remains, will this Kolpak ruling be tightened up in order to rule out the possibility of abuse in the future? The domestic game is still setup to bring through English talent and that should remain the focus.
